" Dreams are a conversation with oneself, a dialogue of symbols and images that takes place between the unconscious and conscious levels of the mind."In this universe, we live in two worlds: The waking world, full and bound by the laws of science, logic and social behavior, and the elusive world of dreaming, ever mysterious throughout the millennium.
A flurry or images, sounds and emotions that our mind experience during slumber. Throughout history, dreams have always been that elusive phenomena that even today, is the topic of interest. Advent of science brought forth a not a clear but a better understanding of the that elusive phenomena. Lucid dreams, False awakenings, Simulated realities and such, sure not many of you might now the definition of such terms, but I'm pretty sure that this fact could hold true to most of you: Dreamers, most of the time, cannot remember their dreams upon waking up.
At least 95% of dreams are not remembered, but sometimes I wonder if I push that percentage lower. I woke up this morning, recalling a vivid tale of Science Fiction, Espionage and War. It was only then I started pondering about my nightly experiences, much to the fact that I happen to recall all my dreams since Tuesday, making this my 3rd consecutive day of being able to recall my dreams. In real life, the skill of dream recollection is something that is trained, I never was. This skill however, doesn't stand alone by itself.
During sleep, there are times when I became mentally aware that I'm dreaming, that I realize that the world that I'm in is a near perfect simulation of reality reconstructed by the waking world experiences of my mind. Another instance, where I wake up from, interrupting a good dream, only to fall back asleep, continuing the same dream and aware of it this time. Lucid dreaming as you might call, awareness that one is dreaming. This awareness also seems to have granted me the ability to manipulate the event in my dreams. At anytime, I could "take over" and start manipulating the scenario and once I'm done, let the dream continue making do with the changes that I've made. I also have the option to just let the dream go about or manipulate its entirety
In the same manner as in the movie "Inception", I am an "Architect".
But this Lucid dreaming sometimes brings me to become a victim of False awakenings. When the line between reality and fantasy blurs, that's when my dreams start to seem a little to real. Here's an example:
"I dreamed of waking up in bed to the alarm ringing in my phone. I got up, heading to the showers to take a bath, changing my clothes afterward then head of to school, the usual morning routine. Only when I entered my classroom, did my dream end and find myself waking up in bed to the same alarm ringing in my phone."Such is life when I thought I was ready for another day of class, only to "wake up" and find to being the exact opposite. A big surprise how my 5 senses were all fooled by my mind to believe that the the texture of cloth, the fragrance of soap and even the taste of toothpaste were real.
But with all that phenomenon abound, my dreams are still, an amazing fantastical interpretation of the of the experiences of my conscious mind.
there should be some kind of disorder about being able to recall all your dreams...happens to me all the time -_-' isn't it abnormal to have dreams every night? (yeah, it sucks, most of them are nightmares)
ReplyDeleteanyway, this is a nice post. I can relate a lot. (The eighth paragraph is my favorite :D) just remember that you're not obliged to use much wordplay. although it sounds cool, some of your target audience might not entirely grasp what you mean to say. and you [always] have to edit what you've written for typos, unintentional grammar blunders, etc :)
you've got talent, kid. keep it up!
